General agreement that a restructure based around working groups was worth pursuing. Email to be sent to CABLE list by RL for comment/feedback and to gauge interest in being involved. Discussed who committee should report to. Suggested that a regular update to key people (those with resource allocation roles) would be sufficient. Noted that communication is important for getting resources recognised and time allocations formalised. Discussed pros and cons of having coordinator also lead a working group, a more neutral vs a more invested coordinator. Agreed it needed someone passionate about CABLE and thinking holistically. JK raised CABLE LIS/WRF versions and whether they were more aligned to CABLE offline or CABLE coupled working groups. Agreed needed 'CABLE coupled' working group to be broader than just 'CABLE ACCESS'. Noted that 'Core code management' WG would be focussed on the science code and needed to include biophysics and biogeochemistry. Discussed what we are trying to improve through a restructure and noted a faster through-put of tickets and less reliance on JS for all technical implementation (of trunk updates). RL to update CommitteeRestructure wiki page to reflect discussion.
- Ticket report
Not available. Quick check of new tickets showed #135 and #136 coming out of IH's work to check code in relation to coupling needs. Agreed that a comprehensive ticket report required for next meeting (JS).
- Code consolidation and trunk updates
Need to clarify status of MD work. VH has updates to come and will ticket. CASA-CNP consolidation to continue to be pursued by Aspendale.
- CABLE offline
a) I/O working group
UNSW student project worked on I/O interpolation. Tested spline code by aggregating flux tower data. Sensitivity to half, one, three, six hourly data etc.
- CABLE in ACCESS
a) Coupling
UM10.5 code is crashing early. Memory overwrite??
- Benchmarking
Need to follow up on the Jenkins work to make sure it can be run by anyone and gets used. GA visited ORNL and discussed linking of iLambs to PALS - seems workable. Another 1-2 weeks to get basic PALS stable and then can try adding iLambs scripts.

Discussed where to locate and how to share CABLE output, particularly so people can assess a new model version against output from a previous version. NCI best option for accessibility. Short-term solution is to store in project space and make readable to everyone. Location can be noted in the table of CABLE simulations on the CableSimulations page. RL to make extra column in table and advertise on the CABLE email list. Need to consider what needs we have for longer-term data curation. PALS may have some capacity.
VH questioned the best way to add a vegetation type (wanting to split broadleaf evergreen into tropical and extra-tropical. JK happy to share his notes on doing this, but should also be added to BeginnersGuide.
