Ratchicons in the .tab-bar respond on 2nd tap

Im using Ratchicons in the .tab-bar but when reloading the page (safari iPhone 6 as well as in Chrome/Mac) the icon does not respond to the first tap. Only when tapping a second time does this get recognized. Thereafter it seems to work fine (i.e. on the first tap). Any clue as to why this occurs?
