Make white space consistent.

This PR creates a consistent base for further development:

• All files are converted to the same, standard, format of 'UTF-8 without BOM and LF line endings',
• Adds terminating newlines for all files,
• Trims all trailing white space,
• And ensures that all files follow the default Visual Studio code formatting.

An .editorconfig is introduced to help maintain whitespace consistency.
