Canvas.onPointerMissed only fires for a few events

My expectation is to get <Canvas onPointerMissed={}... for events such as pointermove, pointerup, etc.
However, it is only being fired for click, dblclick and contextmenu.

Am I misunderstanding its intended use?

Yes, it's only for clicks. What are you trying to do?

I want to draw (as in, with a pen) on the canvas while having other meshes on the scene too.

My current workaround is to patch around the check here

But it gets me wondering, what is the rationale behind not propagating non-click events, if it is intentional?
The docs don't mention that.

@irobot thanks for raising this, I would also really like to know why this is the case. Essentially any interaction which requires the mouse button to be pressed is impossible to implement because of this condition, so I feel like unless there's a good reason for it, it would be great to remove the condition.

looks like this is the commit where it was added, it's quite a big change so it doesn't give us the rationale 5b5701d
