Hi everyone,

I'm facing a persistent issue with GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code. Whenever I try to use it, I get the following error:

Sorry, your request failed. Please try again. Request id: cff708a0-9e75-4eae-a76a-c43954......

📌 Additional Information:

• VS Code Version: (Version: 1.98.2 (user setup))
• GitHub Copilot Version: (1.291.0)
• Operating System: (Windows 10)
• Internet Connection: (Wi-Fi )

📌 What I Have Tried So Far:
✅ Signed out and signed back into GitHub Copilot.
✅ Updated VS Code and GitHub Copilot to the latest version.
✅ Disabled all other extensions and ran VS Code in Safe Mode (code --disable-extensions).
✅ Cleared Copilot cache from:

C:\Users\{YourUsername}\AppData\Roaming\Code\User\globalStorage\github.copilot

✅ Disabled Firewall, Proxy, and VPN to check for network restrictions.
✅ Used Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) to rule out DNS-related issues.
✅ Checked Output logs (View > Output > GitHub Copilot) and found:

[certificates] Removed 89 expired certificates  
[fetcher] Using Helix fetcher.  
[code-referencing] Public code references are enabled.  

Despite trying all these steps, the issue persists. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Are there any additional solutions I can try?

It used to work when I'm on my home wifi but when I'm outside at a cafe with public wifi and it stopped working. Is there any known fix please?

Same with me, but it doesn't work when I use home internet, but when I share data from my phone it works fine

Here are some potential workarounds you can try:

• Retry the request (🔄).
• Retry the request with a different model.
• Start a new chat (➕).
• Check your Copilot Chat output logs for details (CTRL + SHIFT + U or Command Output: Show Output Channels…, and then select GitHub Copilot Chat).

If the issue persists, please comment and attach the logs in this issue. We are continuously monitoring and improving service reliability, and any reports with logs will help us better understand and resolve potential causes.

Hi I have the same issue.. the problem is only with the Gemini 2.5 pro (Preview) model. Claude and other models work fine. Pls help to fix. Thank you!

I had the same issue in the Github Copilot chat VSCode extension, but worked just fine after removing few Azure extensions. Actually the issue began after I installed few Azure extensions, but after the issue persisted I removed few of the extensions, without paying attention what I remove, This could just be that I had many extensions installed on VSCode.

I have completely reinstalled all extensions and VS Code itself, disabled all antivirus software and VPNs, disabled a ipv6 , yet I continue to encounter this error. I often need to reload the window for it to function properly. While it sometimes works seamlessly, it frequently stops responding. Additionally, I have noticed that I am unable to check for updates too (Check for Updates) in ViS Code when this issue occurs.

Could it be possible that some servers related to Windows telemetry, which I have disabled, are affecting VS Code or Copilot?

My Copilot on VSC only give me that message when I want it to edit my file (agent mode) but when I asking them about features of the code it works well. I even restarted my computer and the problem persists:

I've just bought copilot pro, idk if that could be a thing (I hope not)
