Summary of Changes

Hello @nejidevelops, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request, automatically generated by Snyk, aims to update the @angular/animations dependency. However, the actual change in angular-app/package.json shows a downgrade of the package from version ^15.0.0 to ^12.2.17, which is inconsistent with the stated intention of upgrading from 12.0.4. This discrepancy requires careful review to ensure the intended dependency state is achieved.

Highlights

  • Dependency Downgrade: The @angular/animations package has been downgraded from version ^15.0.0 to ^12.2.17 in angular-app/package.json. This contradicts the PR title and description which indicate an upgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.2.17.
  • Automated PR: This pull request was automatically generated by Snyk to manage project dependencies.

Code Review

This pull request, automated by Snyk, introduces a critical issue by downgrading @angular/animations from version ^15.0.0 to ^12.2.17. This creates a major version mismatch with other Angular packages in the project, which are on version 15. Such a discrepancy will almost certainly lead to build failures or runtime errors due to peer dependency conflicts and API incompatibilities. It is crucial to maintain all @angular/* packages on the same major version. I have recommended reverting this change.

critical

This change downgrades @angular/animations from ^15.0.0 to ^12.2.17. This is inconsistent with the PR title which states an upgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.2.17. More importantly, this downgrade creates a major version mismatch with other @angular/* packages in this project, which are on version 15.x.x. This will cause peer dependency conflicts and likely break the application build or lead to runtime errors. All Angular packages within a project should be on the same major version to ensure compatibility. This change should be reverted.

P0 Badge Keep Angular packages on the same major version

The commit downgrades @angular/animations to ^12.2.17 while every other Angular dependency (@angular/core, @angular/common, etc.) remains on ^15.0.0. Angular packages are designed to be consumed as a matched set; installing or building now triggers peer dependency conflicts (@angular/animations@12 expects @angular/core@12) and the application cannot compile or serve. The parent revision already had all Angular packages aligned on v15, so this change is a regression that will block npm install/ng serve for everyone.
