Summary of Changes
Hello @nejidevelops, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request, automatically generated by Snyk, updates the middy
dependency from version 0.25.1
to 0.36.0
. This upgrade aims to keep the project's dependencies up-to-date, improving security and stability by incorporating the latest fixes and features from the middy
framework and its transitive dependencies.
Highlights
- Core Dependency Upgrade: The core middy framework has been upgraded from version 0.25.1 to 0.36.0, representing a significant jump across 25 versions.
- Transitive Dependency Updates: Several related @types packages (@types/aws-lambda, @types/http-errors), ajv-keywords, http-errors, inherits, setprototypeof, and toidentifier have also been updated as part of the package-lock.json regeneration.
- Package Lock File Structure Changes: The package-lock.json file has undergone extensive modifications, including the removal of 'resolved: false' and the addition of 'bundled: true' for numerous development and optional dependencies, reflecting changes in how npm manages the lock file.

Code Review
This pull request upgrades middy
from version 0.25.1 to 0.36.0, along with several other related dependencies. A significant side effect of these changes is that the package registry in package-lock.json
has been switched from a private Nexus repository to the public npm registry for numerous packages. This is a critical change that requires careful review to ensure it aligns with your organization's security and dependency management policies. Additionally, while the upgrade is beneficial, the new version of middy
is still several years old, and I recommend planning a future migration to a more modern version to leverage the latest features and security enhancements.

The package registry for this dependency, and many others throughout this file, has been changed from a private Nexus repository (nexus.solutions.consensys-uk.net
) to the public npm registry (registry.npmjs.org
). This is a significant change that could have security and policy implications. Please verify if this was intentional. If your organization's policy requires using a private registry for vetted packages, this change might introduce un-audited dependencies and should be carefully reviewed.

While upgrading middy
to version 0.36.0
is a good step, please note that this version is from April 2020. Consider planning a future migration to a more recent version of middy
(the latest is v5.x). Newer versions offer a more modular API (e.g., @middy/core
, @middy/http-cors
) and provide significant improvements in performance, security, and features. This would require a larger refactoring effort but is highly recommended for the long-term health and maintainability of the project.
Snyk has created this PR to upgrade middy from 0.25.1 to 0.36.0.
ℹ️ Keep your dependencies up-to-date. This makes it easier to fix existing vulnerabilities and to more quickly identify and fix newly disclosed vulnerabilities when they affect your project.
The recommended version is 25 versions ahead of your current version.
The recommended version was released 5 years ago.
