Why track reordering is unavailable in default workspace

I've observed that track rearrangement via drag-and-drop functionality is exclusively available in editable workspaces.
From my personal point of view, it's very useful to rearrange the tracks which I do not want to pin to top.
Is this restriction implemented to preserve interface stability, prevent accidental modifications, or serve other operational considerations?

There's no fundamental reason tracks can't be reordered on the main workspace.

To prevent accidental reordering is definitely a consideration, though we could introduce a lock/unlock button if this becomes an issue.

Another consideration is that some tracks lose their context when moved out of their groups, but that's an issue in workspaces and pinned tracks anyway.

We're always open to contributions - you could make the default workspace editable by changing the userEditable flag to true here: https://github.com/google/perfetto/blob/main/ui/src/core/workspace_manager.ts#L27, though might I suggest putting it behind a feature flag as there may be some rough edges.

Great, I'd be happy to submit a Merge Request to add a feature flag that enables the capability to rearrange tracks in the default workspace.

I've noticed that the userEditable property not only determines if the track can be rearranged, but also whether it can be removed. I find this functionality acceptable.

Yeah I think that's fine as long as it's behind a feature flag.

We could offer more fine grained control over this but TBH if you want to reorder tracks it's also reasonable to assume you might want to remove tracks too.

Another downside is the little 'x' shows constantly on each track IIRC which eats up valuable track title real estate, so another reason why this should be behind a flag.
