I am getting similar (but slightly different):

$ ./inject -n sample-target sample-library.so
targeting process "sample-target" with pid 52271
instead of expected SIGTRAP, target stopped with signal 11: Segmentation fault
sending process 52271 a SIGSTOP signal for debugging purposes
