SSZ spec discussion: signing-root is nice for line-count and all that, but has problems that make life difficult in other aspects. I documented these problems, the goals, and possible solutions here: ethereum/consensus-specs#1487
With the proposal to get rid of signing root, if others think the described benefits indeed weigh more than the change. But since it is close to frozen spec parts, I think the proposal will need more time/review than regular spec updates.
