@rpauly18 do you have suggestions for data or functions beyond pulling in NDBC wind data for our metocean module?

There has been interest in being able to access data from the offshore wind prospector - it is similar to the WPTO hindcast data set: https://www.nrel.gov/news/program/2021/offshore-wind-data-release-propels-wind-prospecting.html

It would be great to have tools to combine the wind and wave data sets.

There was also discussion during the one DLC tool meeting of them eventually needing met-ocean analysis. I would suggest reaching out to them about what their future needs would be.

Noting that we also had some discussion on using Argo buoys to get temperature and salinity over the entire water column. However these buoys drift over time which might pose some difficulties.

@rpauly18 @ssolson Apparently the NREL Wind Prospector will be permanently retired as soon as July 31, 2022. I'm assuming that the data will still be available and only the GUI retired, but I'd like confirmation before we go down this route for our metocean module. Do either of you have updates here?

The previously linked page shows that an API can be used to access the offshore data. I will tentatively plan to use this interface for MHKiT's metocean module.
