Bug Summary
New option Enable Extensions Content Scripts in Browser Manager Sidebar
breaks standard hover-view of website link URLs. v11.10.5-11.11.1.
Floorp inherits the standard Firefox display mode for website links in-page, whereby the user hovering her mouse-pointer on any such link, pops up an info-balloon at the bottom of the browser window displaying the url. This is extremely helpful, & i use it many times each day. Since i began using Floorp several months ago this has always worked reliably.
Unfortunately since the initial "Unstable" variant of this new feature allowing extensions to be used in the Sidebar WebPanels, v11.10.x, & still true now in its "Stable" variant in v11.11.0-1, if this feature is enabled, then as soon as any of the WebPanels are opened & interacted-with, the Firefox "hover link url balloon" changes behaviour [the balloon opens inside the WebPanel, not the main page], & then soon afterwards, breaks [not appearing at all].
I have verified this misbehaviour in various Profiles:
- my daily default config with many active AddOns, including #Sidebery for my vertical tabs.
- my standby config with many active AddOns, including #TreeStyleTab for my vertical tabs.
- my test clean profile with no AddOns, & Floorp's own native vertical tabs [my three attached pictures are from this profile].
The bug occurs in all those Profiles. Each time it has been triggered, i've not found a way to "fix" it again, apart from closing then relaunching Floorp... but as soon as i next open & use any of my WebPanels the bug retriggers. Until it is solved, unfortunately i have to keep that setting disabled.
Reproduction Steps
- Install Floorp current version, or upgrade an existing installation to it... currently v11.11.1.
- Verify in
about:preferences#bSB
that the optionEnable Extensions Content Scripts in Browser Manager Sidebar
is toggledOn
. - Browse any desired websites in the main browser window, find any in-page links, hover the pointer on them, & observe the pop up url balloon appears at the bottom of the browser window [Picture 1].
- Open any of your WebPanels in the Sidebar, rehover links in the main window, & observe the pop up url balloon appears no longer at the bottom of the browser main window, but instead the bottom of the WebPanel pane [Picture 2].
- Keep browsing in the main window, open & close various WebPanels, & observe that sooner or later the link url hover balloon no longer appears anywhere [Picture 3].
Expected Behavior
- The Firefox / Floorp "hover link url balloon" should always open at the bottom of the main window, when hovering links in the main window.
- The balloon should always open at the bottom of the WebPanel pane, when hovering links in the WebPanel.
- This behaviour should be independent of whether the
Enable Extensions Content Scripts in Browser Manager Sidebar
is enabled or not.
Actual Behavior
The Firefox / Floorp "hover link url balloon" changes behaviour [the balloon opens inside the WebPanel, not the main page], & then soon afterwards, breaks [not appearing at all].

Additional Context
This is a general remark, unrelated to my new Bug Report.
