Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm super glad to hear that you are satisfied with other aspects of AnduinOS. For the issue you mentioned about printers not working properly, we have indeed received quite a few similar reports. In most cases, the root cause is not that the system fails to detect the printer, but rather that the printer driver is missing. For example, with the HP OfficeJet series, the system can recognize the device, but without the official Linux driver provided by HP, it cannot actually complete a print job. In such cases, we recommend downloading and installing the appropriate Linux driver for your specific model from HP’s official website. As for the question of whether this can be solved “out of the box” within the system, we have carefully considered it. In theory, the most thorough approach would be to preinstall more printer drivers directly into the operating system. However, this comes with a significant cost: imagine that there are around 100 mainstream printer models on the market, and each driver is about 30MB in size—bundling all of them would increase the system image by roughly 3GB. For users who don’t need printing functionality at all, this would be an unnecessary burden and would also slow down system downloads, installations, and updates. At present, what we can do is gradually select the most frequently used and widely compatible drivers based on user feedback, and try to include them with the system so that the majority of users are covered. But this is still a gradual process that requires trade-offs. In other words, it’s not that we underestimate the importance of printing, but rather that we must strike a balance between keeping the system lightweight and meeting user needs. We will continue collecting user feedback and prioritize adding support for the most common printer models. |

Hello Robert, I have also to use a printer a couple of time per month. But every time I rely directly on the driver provided by the printer manufacturer- in my case Brother. This is why I only by printers of manufactures, that natively support by Linux- via driver. Regards, Tobias |

I guess there are so many things to do, on a project like this, but printing seems to be an issue.
I use my computers for work, which means that every so often I REALLY NEED TO PRINT.
When I tried to print using my HP officejet, AnduinOS could see my printer but not print. Searching through the forum, I'm not the only person with this problem.
I would like to suggest that sorting printing out should be a higher priority!
But to finish on a positive note, AnduinOS is a lovely distro to work with - other than the ALL IMPORTANT ABILITY TO PRINT!
Thx
