is there a way to set --grid-column as a theme variable

I tried to set the following theme variable:

@theme {
    --grid-column-5: "auto/span 5";
    --grid-column-6: "auto/span 5";
    --grid-column-7: "auto/span 7";
}

unfortunatly I can't use it, is there any way to do so?

Remove the quotes around the values.

how can I than use them? via grid-column-5 is it also possible to have prefix like:

--bs-grid-column-5: auto / span 5

?

These could be used as Tailwind class names like:

<div class="col-5"></div>
<div class="col-6"></div>
<div class="col-7"></div>

Or in CSS via var():

.foo {
  grid-column: var(--grid-column-5);
}

via grid-column-5 is it also possible to have prefix like:

--bs-grid-column-5: auto / span 5
