I recently removed an email with a lot of contributions which were linked to my profile, but when I added it back the contributions are not showing back up on the contributions graph. It has been over 24 hours.

Try pushing a commit to a repo; that should trigger your contributions correctly in your activity graph.

Those commits are made by a different email. I should have around 600 for 2025 and 600 for 2024

@shriyanyamali, normally after re-linking your email, the graph updates correctly after 48 hours. Although pushing a commit with the old email usually refreshes it as well.

Try waiting a little while. If your graph still hasn't updated after a few days, contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and explain your problem.

If you added the email back, your commits might not show up immediately on the graph. Make sure the email exactly matches the one in your old commits. Sometimes you just need to wait, or contact GitHub Support.

When contributions don’t show up on your graph after re-adding an email, it’s usually one of these issues:

1. Exact Email Match – The email in your Git config (git config user.email) must exactly match one of the verified emails on your GitHub account. Even a small difference (capital letters, spaces, or different domain aliases) will prevent contributions from linking.
2. Commit Attribution – Commits are only counted if:
   • The commit email is verified in your GitHub account.
   • The commits are pushed to a branch in a repo hosted on GitHub.
   • The repo is not a fork (unless you’ve pushed to the default branch).
3. Graph Refresh Delay – Contributions can take up to 24–48 hours to refresh after re-adding an email. Since it has already been over 24 hours, it may still take a little longer.
   ✅ What you can do:
   • Run git log --pretty=format:"%h %an <%ae>" in one of your repos to confirm the commit email.
   • Make sure that exact email is listed as verified in your GitHub email settings.
   • Push a new commit using that email to trigger the graph refresh.
   • If it still doesn’t update after 48 hours, contact GitHub Support — they can reprocess past contributions linked to your account.

Hi Shriya,

This usually happens because contributions are tied to the commit email address. If the commits were made with an email address that’s no longer connected to your GitHub account, they won’t appear on your contributions graph.

Since you’ve already re-added the email, a couple of things to double-check:

Make sure the email is verified in your account settings
. Unverified emails won’t link contributions.

Confirm that the email you re-added matches exactly the one used in your commits (even small differences, like uppercase letters or extra spaces, can break the link).

Wait a little longer — contributions can sometimes take up to 24–48 hours to fully repopulate after re-adding and verifying an email.

If the email is verified and matches the commit history but the contributions still don’t show after 48 hours, I’d suggest reaching out to GitHub Support
so they can take a closer look.
