Is there a simple how-to step-by-step guide for a newb?

I've been trying to figure out how to use Apprise API for about two weeks, and the only thing I've been able to figure out how to do is send a message from the webUI Notification section to a Discord channel. The wiki is sort of an avalanche of information and options, but I can't seem to find a simple step-by-step guide that explains how you're supposed to use this and what each step does. (this is not my field, I'm just a hobbyist)

I'm running this in a docker container on my Ubuntu LTS 24.04.2 server. But even if I get into the container's shell to try some CLI commands as written in the info on the webUI, it kicks errors and the help doc in there has different syntax that what the examples in the UI say, and then it wants a URL which doesn't make sense to me because that should be in the config right? ... so I'm just thoroughly confused now and don't know where to start.

Is anyone aware of just a quick how-to out there? I can't find anything after searching for several days. and asking in other forums. I just need to see it once or twice, then I'll get it. Right now, I'm just guessing.

Would really appreciate it! Definitely interested in being able to start sending custom notifications to myself with this.
