SystemRDL Pre-release 1.30.0.rc1

Release Candidate 1 of v1.30.0 to facilitate wider testing.

Request for beta-testers!

The upcoming v1.30.0 release includes some pretty significant internal changes. Although we believe the existing testcases assert that nothing broke, there is always a possibility that something was missed.

Areas to focus on:

• Handling of RDL parameters, and their propagation to assignments
• Dynamic Property Assignments

This will not get pulled by pip automatically, so try the pre-release by installing via:

python3 -m pip install systemrdl-compiler==1.30.0.rc1

... and let me know if something is not working as expected.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the new release!

I have tested this beta on our relatively large codebase and the only issue I found was there is no longer a fields() method in MemNode: AttributeError: 'MemNode' object has no attribute 'fields'. Not sure if this method was even supposed to exist in MemNode in the first place, but regardless it is an easy fix for us.

This was actually due to an older change that was released in 1.29.
Agree this was not even supposed to exist here.

Nice! Was the Walker/Listener test using the old RDLWalker? Or with the new optimized RDLSimpleWalker?

This was with the old RDLWalker. I just migrated one of our walkers (unroll=1) though to RDLSimpleWalker and traversal time decreased from 35 to 21s!
