How can I increase the width of the vertical tabs panel?

I want to increase the width of the vertical tabs panel. How do I do it?

I also would like this, but specifically for HOVERING. I tried editing the userChrome.css but it didn't really work correctly. I also found the css for hovering vertical tabs within the omnia.ja file but was unable to edit the file, though it seems as easy as changing --hovered-verticaltab-width: 20em; to a higher value.
