Thank you so much for your thoughtful suggestion and review — I’ve read it, and I really appreciate the perspective. You're absolutely right: by constantly emphasizing "this is Linux, not Windows," we risk stripping away that sense of familiarity and safety that many users rely on, which can discourage them from taking any steps forward. That said, this sense of disorientation is something users will inevitably face at some point. For example, shortly after installing AnduinOS, they might realize there's no C: or D: drive anymore, or that their favorite disk manager is nowhere to be found. For most people, daily tasks might not be a problem, but something as seemingly minor as a quirky scanner could easily become a major headache. At the end of the day, AnduinOS is still a Linux distribution — and Linux, even today, remains a niche choice in many ways. A lot of developers still only create tools like “campus network clients” for Windows, making Linux seem like unfamiliar and uncharted territory that most would rather avoid. Of course, this isn’t a problem we can solve overnight. For us as maintainers of AnduinOS, what matters is staying true to our original intent: to maintain the system with care, keep the quality bar high, and steadily build user trust and community recognition over time. That’s the path we believe in. |

I wrote a post about AnduinOS with no tech stuff, a post for Newbies, for people with no Linux experience but maybe willing to change to a Linux system, for people who read about Win11 and all the issues, recall, ai and other scary stuff: https://moxie4nav.wordpress.com/2025/07/03/better-than-windows-anduinos/
Why that? Imho AnduinOS is one of the best chances to leave Windows. Imho nearly all posts and videos about Linux topics aim at people within the linux universe. They have the knowledge, the experience. Thats easy going. But what about all the people outside, the much bigger non-linux world, all the people working with Windows day by day knowing nothing about Linux and in general tech stuff, operation systems, tools, administration, aso.? They do not know how to work with the shell and things like that. Working with Word and Excel is hard enough. Gdpr, security, privacy and all that stuff is a secret and not understandable. There is normally no idea that these topics are eventually topics for them. EndOf!0 and other initiatives are nice, but do they reach people like that, do they achieve anything?
So how to reach them, how to write a post for them? i tried it. Maybe others try it too.
